Welcome to this week's blog post, where I'm thrilled to share with you my personal home exercise routine that has been instrumental in supporting my hip health. If you're a dedicated yoga enthusiast seeking relief from hip pain and a desire to deepen your practice, you're in the right place. Get ready to dive into a routine that can work wonders for your hips and overall well-being.
The Power of Meditation:
Before we embark on any movement, let's begin with a 10-minute meditation session. Meditation has become an essential part of my morning routine, providing a foundation for my practice. I highly recommend incorporating this practice into your own routine. To get started, I've been using guided meditations from my favorite app, Insight Timer. Trust me, the transformative benefits are worth it.
Unlocking the Hips:
Now, let's dive into the heart of the routine—unlocking your hips. We'll start with a series of range of motion exercises that focus on the movement of the femur head within the hip socket. Although these therapeutic exercises don't have official names, I've given them some playful "names" to make things simpler.
If you're short on time, prioritize two fundamental movements: the Hip Joint Freeing Movement and Z Pose, a hip-stabilizing exercise. These exercises are fantastic for improving hip mobility and can easily be incorporated into your daily routine.
Strength and Release:
Depending on how your body feels, you can choose to focus on strengthening exercises or indulge in some self-massage using tennis balls or a foam roller. Let your body guide you to the starting point that feels right for you.
The Strength and Flexibility Blend:
Now, let's strike a balance between strength and flexibility. Select one to three exercises from the following options, based on your body's needs and preferences:
1. Clamshell lifts: Strengthen your hip muscles and enhance stability.
2. Hip flexor release: Ease tension and promote flexibility in the hip flexor muscles.
3. Bridge pulses: Build gluteal and hamstring strength.
