Myth 1: You believe that "Stretching more will alleviate hip pain."
While flexibility is crucial for overall joint health, excessive stretching without addressing underlying issues can exacerbate hip pain. Focusing solely on stretching can worsen hip pain, as practitioners neglect strength and stability training.
Myth 2: You believe that "Pain medication can replace proper yoga practice."
Relying solely on pain medication without addressing the underlying issue through appropriate yoga practices can lead to dependency and neglect of necessary lifestyle changes.
Myth 3: "All hip pain is due to tight muscles."
While tight muscles can contribute to hip discomfort, other factors like joint issues, inflammation, or impingements might be the root cause. Assuming it's only muscle-related can lead to ineffective stretches or poses. A personalized approach that considers the specific cause of pain is essential.

"I signed up for online yoga classes with Tonya that focused on my hips. As a result of a hybrid work-from-home situation, I’ve been sitting more and started having hip problems. Tonya taught me some great exercises that I now do regularly. She makes it easy to follow. I have a crazy schedule, so being able to do an online class was exactly what I needed. I would highly recommend taking a class with Tonya."

"Tonya is a sincere and attentive yoga instructor. She is very skilled in anatomy and giving physical adjustments of which she delivers with great confidence and ease. I’ve taken her power yoga and her more relaxing vinyasa classes, both of which she delivers a well-rounded class experience. She is engaging with her students by welcoming each student to class and involving them in the class experience."

Hi, I'm Tonya!
I'm a yoga teacher who helps yogis find long-term solutions to their hip pain so that they can improve overall hip health, improve mobility, flexibility, and comfort so that they can manage, ease, and potentially eliminate hip pain.
I grew up in Oregon, but have lived throughout the United States with my husband and our two children (who are now grown). I've lived in Missouri, and Mississippi, and now reside in Southern California - and I love California.
My greatest joy is my family - but second to that is helping yogis deepen their yoga practice and find pain relief. As a teacher, it is an honor to witness the success of my students.
Driven by my journey, I embarked on a path of becoming a Yoga Teacher with a singular purpose – to help practitioners like you who yearn for relief from hip-related challenges.

Discover the secret to lasting relief by understanding your body's pain points and referral pain points through the power of myofascial release. Our expert guidance will help you pinpoint areas of tension and discomfort, paving the way for profound healing and relaxation.
Become more aware of your practice as we explore the intricate movements of the hip joints with purpose and mindfulness. Through a series of specially curated asanas, you'll learn to awaken, stretch, and strengthen the muscles surrounding your hips, cultivating a newfound sense of ease and freedom in your body.

Take your practice beyond the studio with three simple yet highly effective exercises designed to enhance hip health in the comfort of your own home. From the classic Bridge Pose to the gentle Butterfly Flaps and dynamic Low Lunge, you'll have the tools you need to maintain optimal hip function and vitality.
